Quick Documentation for
The ADDRESS.EXE Utility for the
VERIFIER Door, Version 4.0
ADDRESS.EXE will update, edit & create your ADDRESS.DAT file which
maintains the third line of the mailing label entry formats for the
verifier door. The program also allows you to customize the first two
prompts used in the Mailing Label entry section.
For the third line, you can specify up to 10 different formats,
each containing 3 parts (IE: "City, State, ZIP Code" (US), "Postal
Code, City, Country" (European, I think)), and define the minimum and
maximum length of each answer. You can also make a customized
'generic' third line prompt.
One entry for maximum length in each format can be entered as 0.
The program will automatically adjust that field to fill out all of the
remaining available space in the overall length of the line (Maximum of
30 characters per line). This makes it easy for you, since you don't
need to figure out each line and come up with the right amount to fill
the line out to 30. Usually, the entry you would put a 0 for maximum
length for would be the City, since most postal codes and state/country
abbreviations are consistent....
There is some help available in the program that gets displayed as
you run it, but it's pretty much self-explanatory, I hope :-).
You can ADD, EDIT or DELETE entries in the ADDRESS.DAT file, which
must be in your VERIFIER DOOR Directory. This program must be run from
your Verifier Door directory as well.
When the program starts, it automatically creates a ADDRESS.DAT
file with one entry for the U.S., if it doesn't find an ADDRESS.DAT
file. I have included an ADDRESS.DAT file that contains specifications
for United States, Canada & Australia. I also have a format for
Europe, but I am not sure if it's correct, so I didn't include it. If
anyone has others, please feel free to share them with me :-)
You can have language specific ADDRESS.DAT files, the door program
will look for an ADDRESS.<Lang. Ext.> file, and if it's not found, it
will then look for the ADDRESS.DAT file. The program prompts you for
the language extension you wish to work with when loading.
If the VERIFIER DOOR doesn't find the ADDRESS.DAT file, it will
also create a single entry ADDRESS.DAT file with the U.S.
Specifications....
I guess that covers everything, and this isn't really a Quick
Documentation for a simple program, huh??
